European mobile film competition, Prague

Deadline: 30 August, 2011

We invite young European cross-disciplinary artists, performers, choreographers, musicians, architects, designers, writers, art students, to experiment and use the mobile phone as a new means of creation and narrative. Take part and reveal a creative vision of urban spaces and European cities !

Prizes: 3 winners will be invited to present their film at the MOB International event in Prague, in November 2011

The best films will be shown in our network of European festivals and institutions.

Plus 300€ to 1000€ in prizes

Instructions:

Choose a specific European urban area

Produce a short film with a mobile phone, 3 minutes max length
Rules and information can be found on the website

Submit your film on :http://www.mob-platform.eu/

Special attention will be given to imaginative, unconventional and offbeat projects with a locative and context specific approach.

HOW TO CLIMB THE CAREER LADDER IN 10 YEARS, TO PRICELESS SUCCESS.

Year 1: High School, Junior
– Lie about your age to work at a coffee shop / concert venue (this will be helpful later on)
– 1x Internship on Capitol Hill for a congressional rep who’s district is the uni you desire (for a rec.)
– Take college summer courses at the uni you desire

Year 2: High School, Senior
– Find only local company in po-dunk town working in industry, start doing desk work, move to creative work (/ don’t get used to creative work)
– Teach yourself industry programs and web design.

Year 3: College, Freshman
– 1x Internship, bitch work, no pay

Year 4: College, Sophomore
– Transfer from an art school to a private liberal arts school
– 2x Internships, bitch work, no pay
– Teach yourself advanced industry programs and rent equipment on weekends to learn how to use.

Year 5: College, Junior
- 2x Internships, bitch work, no pay
– Go abroad and make contacts you won’t be able to use back in the US, but will buy you a pint when in town

Year 6: College, Senior
– 3x Internships, bitch work, no pay
– 1x Internship at NBC, bitch work, no pay, sometimes free food from the green rooms if pilfered at the right time
– 1x PA job, pays min. wage, no overtime for 12-18 hour days of bitch work, free craft service food

Year 7: Real Life
– Move to the west coast with no contacts or colleagues
– Provide free work on weekends to “build book”
– Manage a coffee shop, minimum wage, ruin your nails
– Work for a national newspaper and use your press badge to get into industry parties; only to network and cut queues
– Be selected for a four-month museum show being featured as a leader in your industry (/ don’t expect resulting work)
– Get published, without pay (/ don’t expect resulting work)

Year 8: Real Life
– Provide free work on weekends to “build book”
– Get published, without pay (/ don’t expect resulting work)
– Work on national tv show, 10% pay of what it should be, free craft services and a trip to Vegas
– Get hired full-time doing desk work, move to creative work without a pay increase, free coffee 2x a year

Year 9: Real Life
– Provide free work on weekends to “build book”
– Get published, without pay (/ don’t expect resulting work)
– Continue full-time job, full creative work, 33% pay of what it should be, noxious atmosphere, learn how to sleep during work hours without being caught
– Be signed with an agency that doesn’t get you any work, but has a 5 year hold on your prior work

Year 10: Graduate School
– Move out of the country with no contacts or colleagues
– Get a Sony award, selected top 20 out of 100,000+ (/ don’t expect resulting work)
– Show in a gallery each month, sell work for 50% of what it should be
– Be awarded a few international residencies
– Teach yourself web languages (/ CSS, PHP, mySQL, and WordPress)

Year 11: Real Life
– Move back to the east coast; recycle back to year 7.
