How To Say “Kelly, Could You Please Pass the Potatoes” Exactly How You Want To

Kelly, could you please pass the potatoes?
A kind of shouting to get attention, implying that Kelly wasn’t listening originally or in the middle of something else.

Kelly, could you please pass the potatoes?
A kind of begging, implying that the query had been asked before, and either through annoyance or embarrassment, verbatim or paraphrasing, the person asking is having to repeat themselves.

Kelly, could you please pass the potatoes?
Singling out Kelly specifically to be the person passing the potatoes. Maybe somebody else usually passes the potatoes?

Kelly, could you please pass the potatoes?
Usually said in a sardonic manner after a third party requests a more polite tone. Do not use if you intend to actually be polite.

Kelly, could you please pass the potatoes?
Clearly somebody threw a piece of food at you recently.

Kelly, could you please pass the potatoes?
This implies that either there are at least two different potato dishes on the table, or that these potatoes are special in some manner. Maybe these are your great grandmother’s special recipe potatoes, maybe these potatoes glow bright orange and relieve the symptoms of PTSD. Either way, there are other potatoes nearby, or these potatoes are special.

Kelly, could you please pass the potatoes?
Implying that Kelly probably didn’t hear you the first time because she was too busy texting during dinner, or she did hear you but not well enough and passed the pork loins instead. Use the combination “Kelly, could you please pass the potatoes?” if you have some sort of deep-seated hatred for Kelly.
